I designed this steering system as part of the Olin Electric Motorsports team. As a member of the cockpit subteam, I was responsible for the design and fabrication of the steering system for the Formula SAE Electric competition. This design featured a double U-joint and a rack and pinion system. The design was constrained by the dimensions and tubes of the chassis, as well as the ergonomics of the driver. I used SOLIDWORKS to design the steering system and fabricated parts using a mill and a lathe.
